A little prediction...
I truly believe that Obama is trying to sway New York's D-Gov Paterson from campaigning again in 2010 so that Hillary Clinton can take the seat. Obama's involvement in persuading Paterson could be used as a deal between Obama and Clinton to thwart any ill defamation from an unhappy Clinton once she leaves her current post.
1) Obama would be thrilled to be rid of Hillary. Didn't want her as VP, definitely doesn't want her still.
2) Clinton wants control and misses it.
3) Clinton still has a viable chance of Presidency in the future and wants out of a failing presidential term and any association with Obama could prevent a successful campaign in 3 years.
Just a thought.

Interesting idea. Obama will have to do something to keep hillary at bay in 2012.
